How To Stop Barking DogsWhether you are a dog owner or your neighbors have dogs one question that always comes up is how to stop barking dogs. Electric Bark Collar:One of the many dog barking solutions is an electric bark collar. The electric collars use vibration to sense when your dog is going to bark; when the vibration is noticed, a shock (harmless) will be delivered. There are different correctional levels and intensities to train your dog; the collars are effective because the dog will learn from their mistake. They will associate the barking with the unpleasant shock, and over a period of time, the dog will stop barking. Spray Collars:A second option some owners may consider when trying different ways to stop a barking dog is the spray collar. These are similar to the electric collars, but rather than a shock, they use a spray (citrus, or something that is unpleasant in taste), to train the dog. Again, the dog will learn that each time they bark, the collar is going to administer the unpleasant tasting spray; after a few sprays, the dog will quickly learn that barking is an unwarranted activity. Horns or Other Electric Based Noise Training Devices:The horn is one of the classic training devices to get dogs to stop barking. As with other methods, owners will use the horn to teach the dog that when they bark, they are going to hear the painful and annoying sound of the horn. After a series of uses, the dogs are going to make the association, and they are going to learn through the unpleasant sound, that the barking is not an activity they should be doing. There are also electronic devices, which offer a similar high-pitched sound. The sound will continue until the dog stops barking (or the sound can be set for a series of a few seconds by the owner). These electric models may be more effective, as only the dog will hear them, and it will teach the dog to stop barking, due to the unpleasant noise they have to deal with each time they do bark. |
